Fall Road Trip
to Williamsburg, VA
October 18-20, 2024
You want to play golf in Williamsburg, but do not want to play in the heat of summer. Join ASGA-DC for an October weekend golf outing in Williamsburg, VA. We are heading to the Golden Horseshoe Gold Course on Friday and the River course at Kingsmill on Saturday. To close the weekend, our Sunday finale will be the Blackheath course at Ford’s Colony.
The Itinerary
Friday: We will play the famous Golden Horseshoe Gold course. currently ranked #43 on “America’s 100 greatest public golf courses” by Golf Digest. The unforgettable Gold course is composed of 125 acres of majestic woodlands, ravines rolling fairways and dramatic hazards that offer eighteen challenging holds that Robert Trent Jones Sr. called his best design. The Gold Course's layout provides challenges for golfers of every caliber and is home to four of the best par 3's in the mid-Atlantic.

Saturday: For more than three decades, The River Course has hosted the world’s best players competing in PGA and LPGA tours. It has also hosted thousands of lesser-known golf superstars, like you. Put every club in your bag to the test on this Golf Digest top 100 Course in America.
On a still morning, you can see dew beading on the precisely manicured greens and hear the echoes of applause for crisply struck irons and delicately holed putts. When you experience Kingsmill golf, you’ll be inspired to rise up against the greats of today, and of years gone by.
Pete Dye, the renowned course designer tinkered with this layout just enough to highlight the subtle details that make for a truly unforgettable round of golf. Bordered by the calm azure waters of the James River, this golf course in VA is a ‘must play’ and for those who have already, it’s a ‘must play again.’

Sunday: With its undulating fairways and plentiful water features, the Blackheath Course is the most picturesque at Ford's Colony. Every green is protected by bunkers on the course, and water comes into play on thirteen of its holes. The Blackheath Course, which opened in its current form in 1999, is the only course at Ford’s Colony that plays to a par 71.
