Hampshire Greens Recap

Our planned outing at Hampshire Greens (on the summer solstice!) was anticipated with great enthusiasm. We had a total of some 34 golfers scheduled to play, with COVID-19 protocols eased as the DC area moved to Phase II re-opening.

Unfortunately the hopes of most were dashed as intense thunderstorms began to pass through just as we headed out to play. Roughly two thirds of our group wisely but regretfully decided to cancel rather than risk playing through lightning and heavy rain. However, nine players waited out the storm and eventually got back on the course. The weather cleared and we had a marvelous late-afternoon round on a largely empty course (cart-path-only conditions aside).

After golf, six of us spontaneously decided to try out Phase II outside dining at the Grillmarx Steakhouse and Raw Bar in Olney Town Center. For most of us it was our first restaurant dining experience since the lockdown started. We all thought it was truly wonderful to be able to feel "normal" again.

Thanks to all who signed up for Hampshire Greens. Sorry the weather didn't cooperate.
