Yahoo Group
Privacy
Everyone needs to be aware of it as Yahoo is
tracking people now, even when they are not on the Yahoo site.
If you belong to ANY Yahoo Groups - be aware that
Yahoo is now using "Web Beacons" to track every Yahoo
Group user. It's similar to cookies, but allows Yahoo to
record every website and every group you visit, even when you're not
connected to Yahoo.
Look at their updated privacy statement at: http://privacy.yahoo.com/privacy.
About half-way down the page, in the section on
cookies, you will see a link that says WEB BEACONS.
Click on the phrase "Web Beacons."
On the page that opens, find a paragraph entitled "Outside the
Yahoo Network."
In that section find a little "Click Here to
Opt Out" link that will let you "opt-out" of their
snooping. Be careful! NOT to click on the next button
shown. It is an "Opt Back In" button that, if
clicked, will UNDO the opt-out.
Note that Yahoo's invasion of your privacy - and
your ability to opt-out of it - is not user-specific. It is
MACHINE specific. That means you will have to opt-out on every
computer (and browser) you use.
Please forward this to your other groups.
You might complain, too, but I'm not sure if anyone is listening..

Yahoo Web Beacons Igniting Controversy Yahoo's
current privacy policy is causing consternation among some users who
object to their use of so-called 'web beacons'. Known in most
circles as web bugs, these invisible images are embedded in websites
and email and used to track your surfing - and even tell whether
you've opened a particular email. http://antivirus.about.com/od/spywareandadware/a/yahoobugs.htm
Free Golf
Handicap System
Dear ASGAers,
As you know we utilize golf handicaps at a number
of our golf outings to count team scores. Now I understand not
all of you are in ASGA to break par, but your golf chairs wanted you
to know our members have access to a terrific system to help you
formulate an official handicap for use in our events. Handicaps are
not mandatory in ASGA outings, but are useful to you and even to our
event coordinators to help us seed our pairings from time to time.
Some benefits:
- Allows you to track your game of golf progress
over a year, decade, a lifetime comparatively.
- With a handicap you can play a fair game with
any golfer, amateur or pro, even Tiger Woods.
- Measuring scores game by game gives you some
goals, (110!...100!...90!...or yes lower!).
- Tracking scores is the first progress toward
game improvement as you begin to work on eliminating the weak
spots in your game.
- This site will allow you to track your score,
fairways, putts, and greens in regulation (GIR).
Keeping an accurate score is definitely a good
thing once you've moved beyond Beginner, 2nd & 3rd year golfer
status. Remember though: handicap as you already know or will
learn in NOT the subtraction or your score from par...the Equitable
Stroke System used by the USGA tosses out your ultra-high scores, (www.usga.org)
so that hitting your handicap (24 or 94 on a par 70 course) is
accomplished less than half your rounds. Hitting your handicap
is a good day!
Enjoy building a handicap & email or call me
if you have any questions signing up! After you have signed
up, please let me know so I can add your name to a group
listing. You will be able to see how others in the group are
fairing.
*Important note*
When signing up, please de-select the email notification box.
Failure to do so, will result in mass quantities of emails from your
fellow golfers.
