With approximately 300 members from Maryland, Virginia and DC,
the ASGA Washington, DC chapter has a very busy golf and social
schedule. Luckily, we live in the Washington, DC metropolitan area
where there are many social venues and activities where we can meet
and participate as a group. And, there are numerous truly
outstanding golf courses to choose from in our area.
During the winter months when it is too cold to schedule golf
events, our social and golf chairs work with the membership to offer
a variety of indoor golf clinics and social activities to keep
everyone busy. And, once golf season officially starts (around the
first week of April and extending through the first week of
November), we typically schedule golf events for about 40 players on
both days of the weekend, with social events before or after most
golf events. In addition to the regular golf schedule, we add in a
small number of special golf events (Opening Day, Battle of the
Sexes) and extended weekend golf trips. This upcoming year we are
already planning for at least two weekend road trips to locations
such as Williamsburg and Dewey Beach; and, of course, our annual
trek to Myrtle Beach in November for up to ten days of golfing.
Other locations for additional extended weekends are being
considered for this upcoming year.
Throughout the year we also have happy hours on every other
Friday in the DC metropolitan area; monthly golf clinics, and
miscellaneous group social events that might include activities such
as attending plays, going to baseball games (Baltimore Orioles,
Washington Nationals, or other minor league teams); taking bus trips
to the horse races in West Virginia; participating in wine tastings;
and getting together to listen / dance to bands at local nightclubs.
We typically put on two more formal evening activities: a winter
dinner / dance which is currently scheduled for February at
Normandie Farms (a great location!); and a Holiday Party in
December.
Our goal in the DC Chapter of ASGA is to make this a fun venue
for singles to meet, make lasting friendships, and play the
wonderful game of golf. So, if you are visitor to or resident in the
DC, Virginia, or Maryland area, single, have a golf obsession and
want to meet other people with the same affliction, come join us for
a social event (our happy hours are a great way to meet the other
people in the group) or come play golf with us. Check out our
chapter website for upcoming events and instructions for how to be
added to our yahoo groups email list.
Looking forward to meeting you!
Vince Vigliotti
President, Washington DC Chapter
